Molex has launched the latest in its line of modular jacks (modjacks) - its Mini-PCI compliant inverted right angle modjack, offering excellent signal reliability and flexibility and providing a platform to the emerging Mini-PCI standard for LAN's, notebook computers, modems, docking stations, NetPCs and set-top boxes.

Mounted to a 1mm printed circuit board, these modjacks meet the Mini-PCI standard and other tight applications.

Available with or without lightpipes in shielded and unshielded versions, a plug latch on top is provided for easy mating and disengaging.

Made for both RJ-11 and RJ-45 configurations, these modjacks comply with FCC gold plating requirements, intermate with most FCC 68 modular plugs and are UL and CSA approved.

The short leads of this bottom contact design reduce crosstalk, as well as the "antenna" effect, minimising susceptibility to radiated interference carried across transmission lines.

The reduction in crosstalk means the RJ-45 configuration provides CAT 5 performance for fast Ethernet applications with Near End Cross Talk (NEXT) loss greater than 40 dB at 100 Mbs/100 MHz with pairs 1,2 and 3,6.

The lightpipe version directs light from printed circuit board-mounted LEDs to the modjack front to indicate system activity or status.

In addition, there are 34% fewer leads going into the PCB compared to other modular jacks, with embedded LEDs and fewer leads resulting in lower associated manufacturing costs.

On the shielded modjack version, enhanced panel grounding metal tabs provide superior ground path to panel or bracket resulting in optimal shielding effectiveness.

Side by side stacking flexibility capitalises on space usage.

These products are available in through hole styles for wave soldering or high temperature reflow soldering.

Every modjack is tested prior to shipping for electrical shorts and discontinuity.
