Molex Incorporated has announced the release of the Bradcommunications PCI interface card for Profinet.

The Bradcommunications Ethernet card for Profinet IO (reference DRL-EPN-PCU) provides high-speed deterministic communication between PC-based control/Scada applications running on a PCI bus computer and Profinet devices.

The card can be configured as IO-controller (master mode) or IO-device (slave mode) and supports real-time data exchange up to one millisecond.

Bradcommunications products are specially designed for PC-based applications, running under real-time operating systems, which control complex systems or machines using fieldbus technology.

The card is packaged with a complete Windows software suite (configuration console, diagnostic tools, library DLL and OPC server).

The engineering console reduces time and effort during Profinet configuration and commissioning.

An effort has been made to support the automatic device detection functionality that enables discovery of device physical configuration.

The console is able to detect each module connected to the remote I/O head station based on the information stored in the GSD file.

With a few mouse clicks, a user is able to build a complete Profinet architecture and start the communications.
