Pressurised LVDTs ideal for hydraulic systems

A Monitran product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 22, 2000

Monitran is launching a new range of pressurised LVDTs designed to allow pressures of up to 6000 psi (400 bar) to exist between the core of the transducer and internal assembly

Monitran Ltd is launching a new range of pressurised Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDT's).

Designed to allow pressures of up to 6000 psi (400 bar) to exist between the core of the transducer and internal assembly, the new LVDTs offer superior performance for a variety of high pressure applications, such as displacement measurement in hydraulic systems.

The pressurised range completes a family of five LVDT models, developed by Monitran for versatility and ease of use throughout industry.

Other models in the family include, miniature, economy, industrial and DC laboratory.

In common with all Monitran LVDT products, the pressurised units offers the benefit of high reliability and long life and can be supplied either ex-stock from a standard range or adapted by Monitran at its Buckinghamshire manufacturing facility to meet bespoke requirements.

The pressurised LVDT series are manufactured from a rugged, high grade stainless steel and are available in measuring ranges from +/-25mm to +/-500mm, with optional internal electronics available to give either a DC or 40-20mA output.

Typical applications for the pressurised series LVDT's, are in hydraulic and servo-hydraulic systems, automotive engine management, aircraft engine thrust control and heavy construction equipment, where the LVDT is acting as a feedback loop signal source within a cylinder.

Chris Hansford, Managing Director of Monitran comments, "Our expertise lies in the design of instrumentation and we believe that the pressurised LVDT is an innovative and high quality product.

Our team of experienced engineers are available to offer assistance in the purchase of the correct transducer to suit the application and the product is supported with a range of backup services.".
