Monitran launches low-profile accelerometer
The MTN/1100SHC accelerometer is specifically designed to provide effective vibration and shock monitoring in a wide range of OEM, industrial and machinery applications, where space is limited.
The MTN/1185 Series includes standard, submersible and intrinsically safe versions.
In each case, the products incorporate Monitran's proven piezoelectric sensors.
These use a piezoelectric crystal, which is attached to a seismic mass; vibration of the surface on which the accelerometer is mounted will cause the mass to move, thus compressing or tensioning the crystal.
This subsequently generates an electrical signal, which is directly proportional to the level of acceleration or vibration.
One advantage of this technology is that it offers excellent long term stability and reliability, while providing a wide frequency response, from 2 Hz to 1 kHz (+/-ñ10%), plus a good dynamic range, with an output signal that can be interpreted to give velocity and displacement values.
All products in the MTN/1185 Series are manufactured from high grade stainless steel and can be supplied with a choice of output connectors and 5m armoured cables as standard.
In addition, all MTN/1185 accelerometers are supplied fully calibrated; in most industrial and process applications Monitran states that re-calibration on a regular basis is generally unnecessary, although the company does offer a re-calibration service if required.
