Speed software is used to quickly assess the effect of parameter changes on performance, gaining a thorough understanding of the main design variables.

Motor Design has become the distributors for Speed software in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa Speed is added to the existing products of Motor-CAD, Flux and Portunus to provide a complete software solution for the design of electric motors

Speed is the worlds leading analytical software package for the design of electric motors.

Software packages are available for the design of brushless permanent magnet machines (PC-BDC), induction machines (PC-IMD), switched reluctance machines (PC-SRD), permanent magnet dc machines (PC-DCM) and universal motors (PC-WFC).

It also has an integrated finite element analysis module (PC-FEA).

The software is developed by the Speed Laboratory at the University of Glasgow.

Speed software has an efficient graphical user interface easing the input of parameters and the understanding of results.

The software is simple to use, fast and efficient.

It is intended for sizing and preliminary design.

Typically the software is used to quickly assess the effect of parameter changes on performance, gaining a thorough understanding of the main design variables.

Each of the Speed programs includes several common features: an efficient user interface with graphical outline, winding and template editors and output graphs and design sheet; extremely fast detailed performance calculations including magnetic circuit, resistance, inductance, currents, torque, power, losses, torque/speed, and efficiency; detailed loss calculation; material databases; PC-FEA closely integrated finite element analysis to help check results and carry out calibration of the analytical algorithms; automated links to Motor-CAD for detailed thermal analysis; and ActiveX scripting for automating calculations.
