Morgan Receives Contract for Steel Mill Upgrade
Morgan Construction Company has received an order from China Steel Corporation of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, for a major upgrade to its rod outlet of a combination rod and bar mill.
In announcing the contract, Colin Roy, Vice President, Sales, Rolling Mill, noted, "This is an important contract for Morgan inasmuch as the upgrade will include the company's new control cooling loop technology.
This is a new process," he continued, "that is designed to cool the product to 750 degrees centigrade into the finishing mill enabling POSCO to thermo-mechanically roll controlled fine grain product for cold heading, welding rod, and spring steel grades." This is the second contract Morgan has received from POSCO within the past six months.
Last October, Morgan was awarded a contract to design, manufacture and install a major upgrade to the Korean firm's #3 mill, the largest of that company's three mills.
Morgan is a designer and producer of high-quality rolling mill products and services for the metal industry worldwide.
