Zhangjiagang Shatai Steel Company, in Jiangsu Province, the People's Republic of China, has ordered a high-speed rolling mill for its steel manufacturing facility facility from Morgan

Daniel Morgan, senior vice president and general manager of Morgan Construction Company's Rolling Mill Division, said, "This will be the fourth high-speed rolling mill that Morgan has built for Zhangjiagang since 1994 and will be added to an existing bar mill.

"In addition," he said, "this is the company's second major equipment order from Morgan within the past few months," noting that in July, Zhangjiagang purchased two coil compactors.

He explained that the most recent contract primarily calls for the supply of a 10-stand Morgan No-Twist mill, a high-speed pinch roll and a laying head.

The single-strand mill will be designed to produce rod at speeds of up to 120m/sec.

He added that the mill is expected to be shipped in mid-2002.

Zhangjiagang purchased its first Morgan high-speed mill in 1994, its second in 1999, and its third in March of 2000.

All three mills have the capability to produce more than 600,000 tonnes/yr.
