Zhang Jia Gang Shatai Steel Company in Jiangsu Province, China, has placed an order for 12 no-housing stands with Morgan Construction Company, of Worcester, Mass.

"This is another major milestone for our company as this contract is our first order for a no-housing stand in China", said Daniel M Morgan, senior vice president and general manager of the Rolling Mill Division.

He noted that this order is the Morgan's second received from Zhang Jia Gang for the revamp of the company's bar mill revamp.

"Last year, that company ordered two cantilevered finishing stands that were shipped earlier this year".

The most recent order calls for the design, manufacture and installation of six no-housing mill stands for the company's roughing mill, along with six offline stands.

"For the current order, he said, the equipment will be designed at Morgan's Worcester headquarters and manufactured by Morgan-China's production facility in Shanghai".

He added, "Both the cantilevered finishing stands and the no-housing stands are scheduled to be installed in August 2002".

Zhang Jia Gang, who has been a long-time Morgan customer, has purchased four high-speed mills between the years of 1994 and 2001.
