Morgan Construction Company has received an order from Shanxi Haixin International Iron and Steel Company for a new high-speed single-strand rod mill to be built in Shanxi Province, the People's Republic of China.

This will be that company's first rod mill from Morgan.

The mill will produce a variety of carbon and low alloy steels with a product size range of 5.5 to 20.0mm at finishing speeds up to 105m/s.

The mill will produce 630,000 tonnes per year at a rolling rate of 150 tonnes per hour.

Mark Shore, Director of Rolling Mill Sales and Proposals, who announced the contract, said, "The order is for the very latest technology and designs for a Morgan No-Twist mill, and includes a four-stand cantilever horizontal/vertical prefinishing mill, a 10-stand "Vee" No Twist Mill, pinch roll and laying head, a 9-zone Stelmor conveyor, and a reform station".

The equipment will be designed at the company's Worcester headquarters, he said, with manufacturing to be done at the company's production facilities at Morgan-Worcester and Morgan-China in Shanghai.

Both are divisions of the company.

Delivery is scheduled for April 2003.
