Morgan Construction Company has commissioned a new high-speed wire rod mill at Anyang Iron and Steel Company in People's Republic of China.

Morgan Construction Company has commissioned a new high-speed wire rod mill at Anyang Iron and Steel Company in People's Republic of China.

The mill, which is located in Anyang City in Henan Province, is the company's first high-speed mill.

Designed, built and installed by Morgan, the mill has a product capacity of 550kt a year and produces high-quality steel rod at a finishing speed of up to 120m/s.

Fan Li, Project Manager, who announced the commissioning, said, "The new mill can produce 5.0 to 20.0mm rod with a tolerance of +/-0.1 mm for use as tire cord and other high-end products in international markets".

This mill, which represents the latest in steel-producing quality, is designed to produce coils weighing 2200kg.

Included in the new mill is Morgan's patented Reducing/Sizing Mill (RSM), which is located after Morgan's patented No-Twist Mill (NTM) rod mill, two two-stand prefinishing mini-blocks, an eight-stand NTM, a four-stand RSM, water boxes, a high-speed laying head, a ten-zone Stelmor controlled cooling system, and Morgan's patented ring distributor system.
