Morgan Receives Contract for Steel Mill Upgrade
Morgan Construction Company has received an order from China Steel Corporation of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, for a major upgrade to its rod outlet of a combination rod and bar mill.
He explained: "The mill will produce rebar products ranging in diameter from 8 to 16mm, material that is primarily used in the construction industry.
The mill will include 16 no-housing stands for the roughing and intermediate train; a two way slitting unit; two six-stand No-Twist mills; water boxes; dividing shears; a high-speed runout; cooling bed; cold shear; and bundling and strapping equipment.
"The combination of the above equipment will result in the latest method of rolling rebar as the rebar will be finished rolled in a single-strand fashion through a No-Twist Mill without twisting the product.
When completed, the mill will produce 600,000 tonnes annually, with provisions for future expansion", he concluded.
The mill will be designed at Morgan's Worcester headquarters, with equipment produced at the company's manufacturing facilities in Worcester, India and China.
The startup date for the mill is scheduled for May 2005.
