German rod mill orders upgrade

Morgan Construction Company has received a contract from BES Brandenburger Elektrostahlwerke, of Brandenburg, Germany, for an upgrade of its four-strand rod mill.

Morgan Construction Company has received a contract from BES Brandenburger Elektrostahlwerke, of Brandenburg, Germany, for an upgrade of its four-strand rod mill.

According to Michael Shore, Senior Vice President, Strategic Development: "For the upgrade, Morgan will supply its new high-efficiency cooling nozzles and side-shifting water boxes that are designed to cover the full product range, from 5.5 to 16mm".

He added: "The contract also calls for the addition of Morgan's Enhanced Temperature Control System (METCS), which is designed to provide mill operators with the ability to closely control and monitor process temperatures".

Delivery, installation and commissioning of the equipment is scheduled to be completed by mid-July 2005, he said.

Brandenburger Elektrostahlwerke is part of the RIVA Group, of Milan, Italy, a leader in steel production in Europe.

The Brandenburg mill produces rod at a speed of 95m/s, with annual output of 1.5 million tons.
