Morgan Construction Company has received a contract from Siderurgica Lazaro Cardenas - Las Truchas, in Mexico, for new shears for the existing two-strand bar mill.

In addition to the shears Morgan will also supply the electrical hardware and automation changes required.

"The new equipment will increase mill utilisation by improving the condition of the front-ends before entering the finishing stands", according to Neil Gow, Sales Manager.

Originally built and installed in the mid-1970s, this will be the first major mechanical modification supplied by Morgan to this rolling mill, he said.

Installation of the new equipment is scheduled for January 2007.

Mechanical equipment will be manufactured in Morgan's manufacturing facility in Shanghai, and the design and engineering work will be performed at the company's Worcester, Massachusetts, headquarters.
