XpertManager gives mill operators a single source of precise and reliable real-time information on operations and on the products during production.

The rod rolling mill of Siderurgica Barra Mansa in Brazil will run more effectively with the recent purchase of Morgan Construction Company's XpertManager System.

A proprietary software product developed by Morgan, XpertManager gives mill operators a single source of precise and reliable real-time information on operations and on the products during production.

This information enables them to identify areas with potential for improvement and maintain quality controls.

"We think this offers a unique type of system that provides real-time evaluation of operations and product quality," notes Dr Bruce Kiefer, Manager, Mill Processing Modeling and Analysis.

"The potential payback from increased productivity and mill utilisation is significant".

Developed in close collabouration with mill managers and operators, XpertManager links the production planning on the Enterprise/Manufacturing Resource Planning (ERP/MRP) at the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) level with the total production process at the floor operation level, providing continuous communication with the mill control system.

Users have easy access to a full menu of standard reports, including production, speed, utilisation, and metallic and quality yields.

The system is designed to permit customisation of specialised functions and reports for individual customer needs.

XpertManager was first released in November, 2004.
