Panel PCs target home and automotive automation

MAC Solutions will now distribute Italian company Asem's DOMO1000 range of panel-based PCs in the UK. They are designed to control power and energy systems in the home or office.

Control and automation supplier MAC Solutions (UK) has been named UK distributor of a new range of panel-based PCs, which are targeted at the rapidly growing home automation and building automation markets.

MAC Solutions will now distribute Italian company Asem's DOMO1000 range of panel-based PCs, which are designed to control power and energy systems in the home or office, from heating and lighting, to ventilation and air conditioning systems - all via a simple, compact touch screen LCD.

Engineered for reliability, ease of installation and maintenance, with excellent aesthetics, ease of integration and connectivity, the wall-mounted DOMO1000 is easy to mount and can be accessed from the front of the panel without having to perform a system shutdown.

The internal casing is easily accessible due to a smart, folding LCD/touch screen module.

Special fastening eyelets are incorporated to compensate for any misalignment between the mounting box and the wall.

This smart fastening system also enables easy access to the PC module inside, simplifying the maintenance of any internal components.

Removal of the front panel is simple, rapid and functional, and can be carried out simply by using a screwdriver.

The box containing the DOMO1000 PC module is a standard wall-mounting box (manufactured by Vimar) and allows the connection of cables to external devices.

The unit can be installed with Windows XP (optional hard drive required) or Embedded XP (diskless) operating systems.

Built around PC architecture with Asem's own all-in-one 851 motherboard and low-power processor.

The CPU is a Transmeta Crusoe TM5900 U, 800MHz, 512Kbyte cache U, soldered onboard.

The DOMO1000 does not require cooling fans and offers totally noise-free operation.

Furthermore, customers can choose from a range of easily customisable colours and materials for the front panel.

With a full set of communications interfaces and Asem's Premium HMI software for designing graphical screens dedicated to supervision, DOMO1000 is ideal for building management companies that require management of lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems within an office building, home or remote site.

The wall-mounted unit houses a 307mm LCD display and five-wire resistive touchscreen.

The PC module runs on an 800MHz processor and has 4 megabytes of dedicated video RAM, three serial connections, one Ethernet connection, five USB ports and a single PS/2 port.

The unit is extremely compact with dimensions of 356 x 294 x 81mm and weighs just 4.5kg.

Operating temperature is between 0C and 45C and maximum relative humidity is 80%.

The front panel is manufactured from aluminium alloy, treated with anodic oxidation.

The dimensions of the front panel are 356 x 294 x 6mm.
