MRT Castings Ltd, the Hampshire based founders and machininsts are investing in the latest equipment to meet the challenges of the hi-tec applications which they specialise in Last month they took delivery of a new Buhler Classic 34D high pressure diecasting machine

The 340 ton is a bold extension of MRT's pressure capacity, which previously ranged from 120 to 280 ton locking forces.

But size is far from the only advance.

The new Buhler features automatic ladling and the latest specification of computerised shot control.

MRT specialise in castings where cosmetic finish is critical and dimensional tolerances are tight, particuarly for the electronics industry.

The Company are confident that the new machine will further increase production rates and quality consistency for these demanding applications.

MRT , which is a family business with over fifty years of experience in non-ferrous castings, is embracing new technology throughout their operations.

Computer Aided Design and e-mail have revolutionised the work of MRT's tooling and casting design team, through improved interaction between customers, MRT and MRT's toolmakers, reducing lead times and ensuring accuracy.

In addition to the developments in the pressure foundry, MRT upgraded their foundry last year with four new microprocessor controlled gravity diecasting machines.
