The Makita Corporation's acquisition of Fuji Robin (FR) includes all the manufacturing facilities that produce a wide range of fuel engines up to 100cc.

The Makita Corporation has completed the formal acquisition of the small engine division of Fuji Robin (FR) and this division will now become a Makita-branded, wholly owned subsidiary of Makita.

The acquisition includes all the manufacturing facilities that produce a wide range of fuel engines up to 100cc for global applications in horticultural, construction, forestry and leisure products.

Also included are the research and development operations that have given the products market leading advantages in performance, economy and emissions.

Worldwide marketing will immediately feature the Makita branding for this important product range.

In the UK market future distribution will be through Makita UK's sales headquarters at Milton Keynes and a review of distributors is being undertaken.

Previous stockists of FR products will be considered and an extended range of Makita branded products will be available through the established Makita Outdoor Power Equipment dealer network.

Spares and service backup will be expanded to meet Makita UK's standards.

"Makita has had a very close integrated partnership with FR for many years", says Mark Earles, Makita UK's OPE National Sales Manager.

"The acquisition is fundamental to the expansion of the small engine business and the research capability is a vital element".

"The new generation of Makita small engines already offers exceptional emission and performance standards, well ahead of the latest EC regulations".

"The new 24.5cc Micro four-stroke engine, for example, has an HC+NOx emission rating of 24g/kWh whereas the EPA standard is 50g/kWh".

"This intellectual expertise will be a key factor driving our engine product expansion and sales in coming years".

"With this acquisition Makita sets a whole new route for the power machinery world".
