The engineering team at the National Railway Museum is using Makita tools in the challenging renovation of the Flying Scotsman.

The iconic Flying Scotsman engine is undergoing a total refurbishment at the National Railway Museum in York, and Makita power tools are being used in this extensive four-year renovation project Since the famous engine was purchased for the nation in 2004 through public donations and a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the plan has been to bring the engine back to full certification standard, which will enable it once again to run on British rail lines

The expert engineering staff in the York museum workshops have dismantled the engine completely, with all renovation expected to be completed for summer 2009.

The engineering team at the National Railway Museum is delighted to be using Makita tools in this long and challenging renovation.

Their tool kit inventory includes angle grinders, drills and sanders.

"It's good to know that our high performance tools will provide the accuracy and precision needed to restore this very special part of Britain's engineering tradition so that future generations realise the heritage of the railways that made this country recognised as a pioneer around the world".

"These tools will be comfortable and safe to use and provide the reliability and power to get the job finished", says Charles Shaw, Makita UK National Sales Manager, Construction Division.
