Meltric adds DXN37C range of plugs and receptacles

A Meltric Corp product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 27, 2009

Meltric Corporation, a US manufacturer of industrial duty electrical plugs and receptacles, has unveiled the DXN37C product line, which features plugs and receptacles with 37 electrical contacts.

Each contact on the plug and receptacle can carry up to 5A at 220V, making the DXN37C suitable for control applications.

The devices in the range are suitable for hazardous areas because they are ATEX rated for use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 21 and Zone 22 (dust) classified areas.

They enable the quick and safe connect and disconnect of machinery or systems with multiple control loops, feedback switches, photo eyes, lights and other devices with low-amperage requirements.

Additionally, as soon as the plug is latched to the receptacle, the contacts are mated and an IP65 environmental rating is achieved - there is no need to tighten additional rings.

DXN37C multi-pin plugs and receptacles utilise silver-nickel butt contact technology for safety and reliability.

Silver-nickel withstands arcs well and its conductivity in an oxidised state is more than 20 times higher than brass, thus providing lower operating temperatures and longer product life.

The butt-style contacts are spring loaded (via a coil spring) to ensure optimum pressure and performance over numerous operations.
