Proven to prevent obsolescence, these new solutions improve fleet availability by reducing downtime.
MST will be exhibiting at the Railway Supply Institute's annual convention, Global Railway Tech 2004, to be held in Chicago, 26th-29th September 2004.
This year's convention will feature indoor and outdoor exhibits at the Hilton Hotel and the BNSF/Metra yard at 12th and Canal Streets.
The company can be found in the Southwest Hall, Booth 210-212.
MST's FFF solutions, including HVAC and train-line panels, are both economical and practical.
The equipment can be installed gradually so that costs are spread out and fleet availability is only minimally reduced.
As the equipment is installed to fit original specifications, few new tools and little training of engineers are needed to keep panels operational.
These solutions are specifically created for the railroad industry by a specialised design team with extensive experience and technical expertise in the field.
Mors Smitt panels are made to measure in order to complement and even improve on the operations of the original unit, thus reducing downtime.
For example, the company's HVAC panel installed on MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) M-1 and M-3 trains controls the air conditioning motor panel, railway car heating contactors and anti-freeze contactors.
It also includes a built-in relay tester.
Thanks to the company's railroad experience, MST was able to offer a panel designed to withstand the third rail power gap vibrations and provide contact ratings capable of handling high voltage DC loads - a major improvement on the original unit.
In addition, a MST train-line panel installed on New Jersey Transit (NJT) trains functions as the nerve centre of the train-line functions such as locomotive cabin makeup, wheel slip, door systems, non-rollback, and auxiliary power.
There has been a dramatic improvement in car availability since the Mors Smitt panels were installed on these trains in 1996.
