Castings company opts for Mitutoyo CNC CMM
When MBC Precision Castings was asked to produce a new intricate, high precision automotive casting, the company invested in a state-of-the-art CNC Co-ordinate Measuring Machine from Mitutoyo
The MeasurLink software family allows users to determine the depth of the quality management system they need or want.
This flexibility means that some companies may just opt for one module such as the SPC Real-Time package to acquire and analyse SPC data in real time and perform short run inspection tests to maximise production throughout and minimise defects.
Others may opt for any or all of the other modules.

A new Digital Readout system for lathes and electro-discharge machines enables any number of holes between two and 360 to be programmed with full angular offset automatically positioning the workpiece
Surface contours and roughness measurements
Mitutoyo's new SVC Series Formtracers combine surface contour and roughness in one unit.
These cover the SPC Real Time Plus Package which provides a graphic facility to place text and graphs over a bitmap component picture file.
The SPC Process Manager links all shop floor activities on the one screen via a Local Area Network to give QC and Production Managers a remote view of shop floor process in real time allowing instant responses to changes on the production line.
The SPC Process Analyser allows analysis of processes, identification of problem areas leading to the ability to take corrective action to improve product quality.
Inspection data can be merged, filtered and grouped as required.
Finally, Gauge Manager R+R softwares will track, manage and report on the status of gauges in use to build a gauge inventory that can be presented to customers for evaluation and accreditation purposes.
It is therefore clear that MeasurLink can provide either a part or complete quality management software suite.
Naturally it supports Mitutoyo's full range of calipers, micrometers, indicators, CMMs, vision systems and other instruments.
More importantly, Measurlink's open architecture also supports the tools of most other manufacturers too.
With its ability to empower shop floor and management staff to make decisions on quality management, MeasurLink will save time and can address problems quickly.
Downtime can be saved, defects minimised and customer relationships developed through the provision of important management data.
Mitutoyo expects many companies to adapt MeasurLink as its standard quality management software, using all the modules.
For others, the flexibility of a step-by-step build up will be invaluable. Request a free brochure from Mitutoyo (UK) ...
