Survey confirms seasonal dip in orders
The latest MTA trends survey shows a dip in orders for the sector over the summer, but respondents expect a recovery in the final period of the year.
President makes education top priority
Incoming MTA President, Geoff Lloyd, Managing Director of Heller Machine Tools, delivered his first keynote speech at the MTA Annual Lunch in London on Thursday 12th October 2006.
Thanks in part to his efforts, the MTA welcomed 19 new members in the last financial year.
This encouraging response includes a number of Associate Members, such as finance companies and a technical journal.
The MTA's Director General, Simon Brown says: "As an association, we are now broadening our remit to encompass all of manufacturing.
Reflecting this, we now have two categories of membership, Associate and Full, both of which give members access to information and services that will help them succeed in a competitive world".
A typical response comes from Tony Pennington, Managing Director of tooling supplier WNT.
"The market information supplied to members confers a distinct advantage.
Since joining the MTA, I have found the Friday Brief e-mail very informative and useful".
Membership also provides the opportunity to share viewpoints and information "In 2003, it was felt by the Guhring management team that the MTA was an ideal vehicle to join in order to collaborate, share views and work closely with", says Managing Director, Mike Dinsdale.
"On behalf of Guhring, I look forward to meeting and working with the membership to promote our common goals".
Any company interested in more information on, or becoming a member of, the UK's leading association for the manufacturing sector should, in the first instance, contact David Bromige, the MTA's Marketing Manager.
