Survey confirms seasonal dip in orders
The latest MTA trends survey shows a dip in orders for the sector over the summer, but respondents expect a recovery in the final period of the year.
The Innovative Thinking Award is being provided for each of the three age groups in the national final (11 to 14, 14 to 16 and 16-plus) and judges are required to look for innovation within the team's work, either as part of the design of the cars or other aspects of their work.
The MTA has supported the F1 in Schools competition since its inception five years ago, but this is the first time the association has sponsored a prize category.
Commenting on this, MTA Company Secretary, Mary Lee said: "The MTA has a very strong commitment to promoting engineering as a career and has always supported the F1 in Schools competition".
"This is a very successful initiative with more young people participating in the competition each year and producing outstanding work".
"The MTA's Education and Training Committee was therefore very happy to take the opportunity to increase our involvement by sponsoring the Innovative Thinking Award".
