President makes education top priority
Incoming MTA President, Geoff Lloyd, Managing Director of Heller Machine Tools, delivered his first keynote speech at the MTA Annual Lunch in London on Thursday 12th October 2006.
They are therefore closely aligned to the equipment suppliers section within the MTA, meaning that the association is well placed to provide services of value to BHECTA members.
BHECTA members will retain their own identity within the MTA and will continue to meet as a group.
Their current president will also have a co-opted seat on both the MTA equipment suppliers section committee and the Executive Council.

Jargon buster cuts through the ATEX jungle
ABB has published an "ATEX jargon buster" that helps motor users cut through the jungle of terms and definitions that make up the new ATEX Directives.
BHECTA members can also tap into the wide range of services provided to MTA members, including industry specific statistics, weekly email bulletins, technical advice and support and a host of business development services along with opportunities to network with the wider manufacturing technologies industry.
Providing the secretariat for the BHECTA is the first step by the MTA towards working more closely with like-minded and relevant associations.
The MTA is looking to develop a range of agreements and understandings with other associations across areas of common interest, such as providing secretariat services, working together on statistical projects, joint lobbying and technical collaborations.
MTA Director General, Andrew Manly, said: "The BHECTA is a prestigious and well-respected organisation and I'm delighted that it has chosen the MTA to provide it with its secretariat".
"Its members are very much part of our industry, so sit well alongside our current membership enabling us to provide them with a range of services that I am confident they will find of value".
"It makes sense to work closely with organisations with similar aims and objectives and to pool our resources to gain maximum benefit for the individual companies and the industry as a whole".
Current BHECTA President Tony Deeming said: "I'm delighted that we've reached this agreement with the MTA".
"It is a strong association which I'm sure can provide our members with relevant information and services".
"We will retain our own identity within the MTA, which is important to the BHECTA but it's also going to be exciting to have exposure to the wider industry that we are a part of".
The medium-term aim of the MTA running the BHECTA's secretariat is that BHECTA members will become more closely integrated into the MTA.
