Association picks up hat-trick of awards

On Thursday 13th July at the Trade Association Forum (TAF) Best Practice Awards ceremony the MTA won three awards and was a finalist in a fourth category.
On Thursday 13th July at the Trade Association Forum (TAF) Best Practice Awards ceremony the MTA won three awards and was a finalist in a fourth category.
Senior members of Forum member trade associations judge the Awards so the MTA was especially pleased to have been judged as winners by its peers.
MACH 2006 was named Exhibition of the Year.
The judges admired the coherent marketing of the show and its pro-active positioning in relation to an increasingly globalised industry, with an emphasis on innovation and cross-fertilisation through the seminar programme as well as potential for exports.
The MTA also won Best Membership Pack Award.
The judges found the pack attractive and welcoming but beyond that its content and tone of voice portrayed an organisation with heart - a good example of the opportunity for "post selling" to new members to ensure that they feel they have made the right decision in joining.
David Bromige was named winner of the Individual Contribution Award.
Over 30 years in marketing and business development roles with MTA (and MTTA), Bromige has made an enormous contribution to the export performance of the UK machine tool and manufacturing technology sector.
He was involved in pioneering visits to China in the early 1970s and in the 1990s set up the MTA China office.
He has also played a leading role in developing the market in Russia, where another office was established, and in India and Brazil.
David has introduced hundreds of UK engineering companies to overseas markets and has helped forge business relationships all over the world, generating significant business for UK companies.
Although retired in 2006, he still works as a consultant for MTA on special projects.
"The Friday Brief" was also a finalist for the Electronic Communication Award.
Commenting on the awards, MTA Director General, Andrew Manly said: "These awards are won by trade associations that are displaying best practice and I'm delighted that MTA has been recognised as doing this".
"The wins for MACH and the membership pack prove how important teamwork is and show what can be achieved though it".
"We're all also obviously thrilled that David's contribution to our industry has been recognised by his peers".
"I have an excellent team at the MTA and it's their hard work that has made this happen".
Stephen Panke, MTA President added: "I had the pleasure of attending the dinner on Thursday and was delighted by the wins".
"Andrew and his team deserve our utmost praise for the great work they're doing at Bayswater Road, there is no greater honour than being chosen by your peer group as the best".
