Misumi launches RS Series actuators

A Misumi product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 18, 2009

Misumi USA, a subsidiary of Misumi Corporation, has announced the expansion of its line of single-axis actuators with Misumi single-axis robot RS Series actuators.

The RS Series can be utilised in a wide range of automated machine applications requiring precise motion control.

For example, they can be used to perform part assembly, pick and place, stacking, inserting, inspection, alignment and testing, as well as other functions.

The single-axis RS Series actuators are CE compliant and are available in six small sizes (RS) and six large sizes (RSH), as well as in cleanroom Class 10 versions.

The small types are driven by stepper motors and the large types by AC servo motors.

Misumi said that the RS Series has a superior structure to extend product life span, even in harsh environments (rated life span is 10,000km and above).

The actuators feature a configurable stroke of 50 to 1,050mm with constant load capacity regardless of speed.

Cleanroom Class 10 versions (RS C and RSH C) have a sealed design and a high-durability stainless-steel cover.

Misumi offers an array of accessory options for the single-axis robot RS Series actuators.

These include: power and signal cables, I/O cabling, control terminal, noise filter, support software and dedicated USB cable (to connect controller to the PC), and replacement data backup batteries for larger, RSH-type controllers.

Functions such as cycle-time simulator and monitoring module are included in Misumi support software.

With the launch of the RS Series, Misumi continues to expand its portfolio of single-axis actuators designed to provide precision linear motion in packaging, medical, semiconductor, automotive and other automated assembly operations.

Misumi's LX Series has also been expanded to include high-precision class actuators and actuators with motors.

The LX Series models are available in more than 1,000 possible configurations, as well as in standard, cover and the LXM with motor models.

Specially designed brackets allow a combination of two units on a different axis.

All pricing information, technical data and delivery times are published in the Misumi catalogue and website.
