Flashback arrestors protect staff and equipment

A Murex Welding Products product story

Flashbacks can be the result of sustained backfire, incorrect hose purging or simply the wrong gas pressure.

Murex Saffire flashback arrestors are essential safety devices which provide the maximum protection for the operator and his equipment in the event of a flashback.

This can be caused by a variety of conditions such as sustained backfire, incorrect hose purging or simply the wrong gas pressure.

Murex now offers two types of Saffire flashback arrestors.

The Saffire 36ec conforms to the requirements of EN730 and offers comprehensive protection.

It has a pressure sensitive cut-off, is suitable for acetylene, propane, oxygen and hydrogen gases.

HSE and BAM approved, the Saffire 36ec is quality managed to the ISO9000 requirement.

Murex also offers the Saffire XL flashback arrestor, a cylindrical flashback arrestor.

It has an advanced design giving a high flow rate.

Internally the XL is equipped with a large cylindrical flame-arresting element, an automatic reset, nonreturn valve and a heat-sensitive automatic cut-off.

The BCGA Code of Practice 7 was revised and re-issued for 2005.

This suggests two levels of user protection: Minimum - Thermal type cut off devices such as the XL; and BCGA recommended - Pressure sensitive devices such as the 36ec.
