A new low cost range of entry-level joining systems aims to revolutionise the industry.

A new low cost range of entry-level joining systems from MacGregor Welding Systems, world leader in the design and manufacture of micro-welding solutions, looks set to revolutionise the industry.

The m1, which offers linear DC output, has taken three years to develop and is designed to offer an alternative solution to environmentally unfriendly soldering or as a replacement for earlier systems.

Initially the company is offering two models, the m1-10, which is aimed at lower current type precision applications and the m1-40, designed for higher current applications.

Typical joining applications for the m1-10 include gold ribbon welding, solar cell assembly, sensor and component welding, detonator and bridge-wire to name but a few MacGregor's m1-40, is an ideal replacement for capacitor discharge equipment and is especially suitable for micro-weld applications such as battery pack assembly, miniature contacts, solar cell applications, lamps and conductive joints.

The m1-40 is supplied with a short pulse weld capability and is a low cost purchase route for those wanting a higher standard of performance but with a limited budget.

Key features of the world beating m1 range include closed loop control for total output precision, an advanced graphical user interface and simple to operate menu choice using an integral keypad.

Settings can be preset allowing up to 15 different user profiles to be stored at any one time.

Other options include single or dual pulse modes including a part conditioning function, enabling greater user flexibility when joining difficult surfaces.

One of the big selling points of the m1 range is the consistency and control of the welding output including the ability to choose between current, voltage or power settings, allowing the optimum parameter to be used during the weld process.

This superior level of control is provided thanks to MacGregor's advanced technology, which provides closed loop control and full process monitoring during the weld process.

Supplied for use with single-phase mains input, the unit is equipped with an auto-switching power supply covering 90-260V AC.

All models in the m1 range offer exceptional value, a fact the company believes will especially appeal to a wide range of newly emerging world markets, such as China and India plus Eastern Europe.
