Precision welding technology exported to
Asia
A project that required welding to micron accuracy on a very critical application has been successfully completed to the satisfaction of the client.
MacGregor Welding Systems 's ability to develop international bespoke automated micro joining solutions has resulted in the successful conclusion of a turnkey order destined for Asia and a further reputation boost for producing high specification equipment The order was initially secured by the San Diego office of MacGregor Welding Systems from a well-known US printer manufacturer based in Japan, after the UK head-office of the company demonstrated its ability to develop a fully automated welding system

Dryer refurbishment showcases skills
The decision by Lafarge Aggregates to bring a major piece of equipment back into operation gave engineering company Ace Arc the opportunity to use all its welding and fabrication expertise.
This required MacGregor Welding Systems to undertake process development work and product trials in order to perfect a fully automated solution.
At the centre of the successful system are two DC 1001P micro resistance welding power supplies and a number of Mach1 "weld by wire" weld heads which offer closed loop force control.
MacGregor Welding Systems subsequently sought a partner to work on the production assembly and integration work.

Suffolk based MacGregor Systems, a world leader in micro welding equipment, is one of the few companies able to provide the high level of precision required to ensure correct assembly.
The system uses precision product handling to align thermistors to ceramic heaters before presenting them for welding and requires an accuracy of 20um, due to the small sizes of the components involved.
MacGregor's in-house expertise was used to develop and manage the project from initial concept right through to the installation and operation of the equipment in the Far East.
Both MacGregor Systems and Huxley Bertram are delighted that a project, which required welding to micron accuracy on what was a very critical application, was successfully completed to the satisfaction of the client.
The solution clearly demonstrates to global manufacturers that Britain has the engineering skills to match any of her competitors.
Tessa MacGregor, MacGregor's Marketing Manager, said: "This successful project proves that British engineering companies can compete on the world stage".
"To win such an important contract, design and develop and then export this type of sophisticated equipment to Asia is yet a further success story for our company".
