Engine adds IDE to library

A MVTec Software product story

High-grade integrated development environment for machine vision added to software library.

MVTec Software has extended its machine vision software Halcon with the interpreter HDevelop Engine.

This adds to the software library a high-grade integrated development environment (IDE) for machine vision.

HDevelop directly exports the machine vision application code to C++, C, C# or Visual Basic.

Thus, a machine vision application generated by HDevelop with Halcon operators can directly be included in a control program.

HDevelop allows external procedures to run and be integrated.

These procedures can be code snippets that have been created by the programmer as separate files or programmed by a different developer.

It means the export of the programmed HDevelop application into C++ is no longer necessary.

The engine - integrated in a C++ program - loads the HDevelop application file and executes it.

Thus, the IDE provides the possibility to create an application and to change parts of it without running through a compiling and linking process.

The IDE acts interoperable under Windows, Linux and Unix.

For example, Halcon applications developed under Windows can run in a C++ program under Linux and vice versa.

IDEs in one environment can provide development interface, text editor, compiler or interpreter, linker, debugger, and source formatter.
