This year, MVTec Software from Munich, Germany, commemorates its 10th company anniversary.

MVTec was founded in 1996 as a spinoff from the Technical University of Munich, and initially, the employees lodged inside university offices.

10 years on, MVTec is still a German company owned by the founders Dr Wolfgang Eckstein, Dr Olaf Munkelt and Dr Carsten Steger.

In the last three years, staff numbers have doubled, and MVTec has more than 40 highly qualified experts - a number that will continue to grow.

So this year the company has had to significantly expand its office space: just in time for the anniversary, MVTec's office and laboratory now covers three floors.

In the machine vision industry, with its Halcon and ActivVisionTools products, MVTec is a technology leader for standard machine vision software and supports a network of 30 distributors.

At the end of 2006, support for the seven distributor companies in the USA and Canada will increase thanks to a new North American MVTec support centre situated in the Boston area.

In the future, in addition to its technological knowhow MVTec intends to increasingly incorporate its didactic expertise based on long-time experience.

As a part of this strategy, at the Vision show 2006 the company will introduce the MVTec vision kit.

The kit, themed "hands-on machine vision", will enable all of MVTec's distribution partners to clearly and directly depict the nearly unlimited capability of this complex technology to potential customers and interested parties.
