Robot requires only one camera

A MVTec Software product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 10, 2007

Halcon 8.0 machine vision software knows the object's CAD model and pre-calculates all possible positions as 2D projections.

At the Vision 2007, Neue Messe Stuttgart, 6th-8th November, 2007, MVTec Software will show an industrial robot that detects objects in any 3D position with only one camera, controlled by a standard machine vision software library.

Halcon 8.0 machine vision software knows the object's CAD model and pre-calculates all possible positions as 2D projections.

The software is able to clearly identify any object in its arbitrarily orientated pose.

Real-time applications are possible.

This 3D object recognition is not only fast and reliable, but also robust against variations of illumination.
