Wipes clean up within new VOC
regulations

Low-VOC Prepwipes and Prep Cleaner liquid from Mykal are designed for the fast wipe down and precleaning of metal and plastic surfaces prior to painting, bonding and final assembly.

From 1st January 2007 all products used within the automotive refinshing market must be labelled with the details of their volatile organic compound (VOC) content and must be below the maximum levels set Traditional solvents such as thinners, IPA and IPA blends used for preparatory and precleaning operations will above the legal limit for VOC emissions, and so all companies will be under pressure to change to alternative products

Low-VOC Prepwipes and Prep Cleaner liquid from Mykal are designed for the fast wipe down and precleaning of metal and plastic surfaces prior to painting, bonding and final assembly processes without health risks to operators.

The EU VOC limit value for "Preparatory and cleaning: pre-cleaners" in ready to use form (product category 11B(a)) is a maximum of 200g/litre.

The actual VOC content of Prepwipes and Prep Cleaner in ready to use form is just 96g/litre.

The Prepwipes are pre-impregnated and nonhazardous, using a water-based cleaner that combines cleaning, drying and antistatic properties with a precut nonlinting fabric in a resealable sachet.

With this low-VOC one-stage system in place, operators can prepare surfaces for painting or coating stages quickly and efficiently in high volume manufacturing environments without the need for flammable solvents, separate paper drying or antistatic processes.

Mykal also produces its own automotive wipes for the removal of sealants, sealant overspray, heavy contaminants and for the preparation of components for further coating operations. Request a free brochure from Mykal Industries ...
