Clutches cater for startup torque

A Mayr Transmissions product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 8, 2005

Covering the torque range 4-2500Nm, EAS-Sp clutches are suitable for applications where a high startup torque together with a lower running torque are required.

Standard mechanical torque limiting clutches cannot normally be adjusted once the machine is in operation and have to set at a higher level to accept any startup torques which can effect their sensitivity during normal running.

The Mayr EAS-Sp series of pneumatically controlled torque limiting clutches allows remote adjustment while the machine is running together with full protection over the operating range.

Covering the torque range 4-2500Nm, the seven sizes of EAS-Sp clutches are suitable for applications where a high startup torque together with a lower running torque are required or torque variation during the machine operating sequence.

Should a torque overload condition occur, the clutch will immediately disengage when the adjusted torque is exceeded, with no residual torque transmission.

An integral proximity sensor will signal the drive off and can be used to control the compressed air supply.

The EAS-Sp clutches offer backlash free torque transmission, with synchronous 360-degree re-engagement.

The clutches can be supplied complete with flexible couplings for shaft-to-shaft applications and operate with between 1.5 and 6bar pressure depending on the torque required.
