Modular brakes add machine tool safety
An innovative series of modular safety brakes is designed for use in conjunction with vertical axis drives, specifically on machine tool applications.
Mayr Antriebstechnik has introduced an innovative series of modular safety brakes for use in conjunction with vertical axis drives, specifically on machine tool applications.
With the increasing number of functional safety directives, the Roba-topstop series meets the requirements of DIN EN954-1.
The Roba-topstop modular units are suitable for vertical axis drives where machine and personnel safety are paramount, and are the result of many years of experience in the design, manufacture and application of the well known Roba-stop electromagnetic fail safe brakes.
Ideal for servomotor drive applications the modular units are available in three basic sizes up to 200Nm brake torque complete with input and output flanges to suit all standard servo motors.
Four base types are available for assembly between the servomotor and ballscrew spindle or servomotor and gearbox, either as hub-hub, hub-shaft or shaft-shaft fitment, with Roba-ES backlash free blind assembly couplings or EAS-Compact backlash free torque limiting if required.
The modular units offer total brake enclosure complete with a terminal box.
For additional security brake wear or release monitoring is available.
The flexibility of the modular design lends itself to retrofitting into existing machinery or for special applications where nonstandard flanges are required or space is at a premium.
