New support for UK metals industry
The recently launched National Metals Technology Centre (NAMTEC) provides a long awaited centre of excellence for the UK metals industry.
The recently launched National Metals Technology Centre (NAMTEC) provides a long awaited centre of excellence for the UK metals industry.
Established in response to business and academic demand, NAMTEC aims to increase the global competitiveness of the UK's metals sector by stimulating high technology innovation and research and development.
NAMTEC has a telephone helpline staffed by a team of experienced metallurgists who can answer technical enquiries about metals, processing and applications.
They will answer questions immediately, or within a few days, and NAMTEC is currently providing the helpline service free of charge.
If a company requires help with product development, testing or research, NAMTEC will liase with the universities and research organisations that are leaders in that particular field.
It will negotiate costs and oversee the work on behalf of the client.
A pilot website is up and running, and a full site will go live in the next few months which will allow visitors to see the latest news stories on the metals industry.
Subscribers to the site will also be able to search databases for detailed information about metals.
