National Instruments web site is among the top three manufacturer Web sites that engineers visit on a weekly basis, according to a major electronics industry survey.

The NI site finished ahead of such electronics industry leaders as IBM, Intel, and National Semiconductor, according to the recent survey in North America conducted by Cahners Research and EDN magazine, a leading electronic design magazine distributed to more than 160,000 engineers in the United States.

"This is the second consecutive year that engineers have named ni.com among the top three vendor sites they use," said John Graff, NI Vice President of Marketing.

"This is a testament to our early and aggressive investment in the Web, as well as the excellent relationship we have with our large customer base." With NI tools, engineers turn standard computers into specialised measurement and automation systems for a wide range of industries, from optical component manufacturing - vital to today's high-speed communications - to more traditional processes, such as the manufacturing of light bulbs and car tires.

Because each industry and each customer face a unique set of challenges, one of the interactive online tools NI offers its customers is system configurators, which simplify design of customer-defined solutions.

"Using our configurators, our customers answer simply stated questions about what they need to accomplish," Graff said.

"Based on their answers, we suggest the software and hardware that meets their needs.

This service is available anytime the customer needs it - 24 hours a day, seven days a week." Customers can do more than research and build their solutions through ni.com.

Visitors can receive extensive worldwide customer support.

They can ask questions, exchange information, and discuss products with fellow engineers.

NI engineers also offer online advice about using NI products.

Customers can download free technical documents showing how to use and set up NI products.

Customers can access all features of ni.com through a customised user interface known as MyNI (my.ni.com).

With MyNI, they can display information that matches their specific interests and can create a personal Web page that provides news, business services, and product information tailored to their preferences.
