Modules provide industrial-strength
digital I/O

Six new low-cost, optically isolated digital I/O devices deliver a high-reliability industrial feature set for applications in discrete, batch and process automation.

Six new low-cost, optically isolated digital I/O devices deliver a high-reliability industrial feature set for applications in discrete, batch and process automation Each device offers industrial features such as watchdog timers, optical isolation, 24V logic levels, programmable power-up states, programmable input filters, change detection and industrial certifications

Starting at GBP 220 (Eur 320) - or GBP 3 (Eur 5) per I/O channel - the NI 651x family of DIO devices includes: the NI PCI-6511 and NI PXI/CompactPCI 6511 +/-30V DC, optically isolated industrial 64 digital input, sinking/sourcing; the NI PCI-6512 and NI PXI/CompactPCI 6512 +/-30V DC, optically isolated industrial 64 digital output, sourcing, 350mA maximum current drive; and the NI PCI-6513 and NI PXI/CompactPCI 6513 +/-30V DC, optically isolated industrial 64 digital output, sinking, 475mA maximum current drive.

The 24V logic levels offered by these devices gives direct connection to industrial sensors and actuators, and are completely software programmable without jumpers.

Engineers can use programmable power-up states to configure the initial digital state in software and ensure safe operation when controlling industrial actuators such as pumps, valves, motors and relays.

Programmable input filters eliminate input noise, remove glitches and spikes and provide debouncing for digital switches and relays.

Digital I/O watchdogs protect against a variety of fault conditions including computer and application crashes.

The NI 651x family also delivers innovative NI-DAQmx driver software technology on both Windows and LabView Real-Time operating systems, offering superior ease of use and deterministic performance.

NI-DAQmx, the newest version of National Instruments measurement services software, includes automatic code generation for creating applications in NI LabView, C, Microsoft Visual Basic.NET and C.

NI DAQ Assistant, a key feature of NI-DAQmx, guides engineers to fast, accurate input/output without requiring any programming.

NI-DAQmx also offers multithreading streaming technology that delivers up to 100 times faster I/O throughput for concurrent operations and high-channel-count systems, as well as other advanced features including automatic timing, triggering and synchronisation.
