Software upgrades for Vista
compatibility

Latest versions of LabWindows/CVI and Measurement Studio provide support for the newest version of the Microsoft operating system.

National Instruments has released new versions of LabWindows/CVI, the proven ANSI C integrated development environment, and Measurement Studio, a comprehensive suite of libraries and user interface controls for applications built using Microsoft Visual Studio LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 and Measurement Studio 8.1.1 provide support for Windows Vista to help engineers easily transition to the newest version of the Microsoft operating system

As scheduled maintenance releases, LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 and Measurement Studio 8.1.1 also include bug fixes for improved performance and reliability.

"National Instruments is committed to giving engineers and scientists the tools and support they need to take advantage of the newest PC technologies and choose systems that work best for their applications", said Tim Dehne, NI Senior Vice President of R and D.

"With support for Windows Vista, LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 and Measurement Studio 8.1.1 engineers can take advantage of the latest PC technologies to develop and deploy their NET and ANSI C applications".

Windows Vista released to the general public in early 2007 and introduced enhanced features such as increased security, new NET functionality and improved search capabilities.

A key aspect of the Windows Vista release is the availability of 32 and 64bit editions, which engineers and scientists can install depending on their computer processors.

LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 and Measurement Studio 8.1.1 function normally on the 64bit version of Windows Vista through Microsoft compatibility technology, but engineers using this version must have 64bit hardware drivers.

National Instruments offers updated 32bit drivers to support Windows Vista and new 64bit hardware drivers for Windows Vista x64 Edition, the 64bit edition of Windows Vista, to help engineers connect their hardware to the new operating system.

To further simplify the transition to the new operating system, National Instruments offers the PXI-8106, NI PXIe-8106, PXI-8105 and NI PXIe-8105 embedded controllers with Windows Vista preinstalled as the default operating system.

Now, engineers using a combination of LabWindows/CVI and PXI or PXI Express for applications in industries such as aerospace and military can upgrade their entire systems to work with Windows Vista.

For engineers not upgrading to Windows Vista, LabWindows/CVI and Measurement Studio continue to support Windows XP and Windows 2000.

Engineers and scientists can also purchase PXI or PXI Express controllers with Windows XP or Windows 2000 installed. Request a free brochure from National Instruments ...
