National offers PXI Express chassis

A National Instruments product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 13, 2009

National Instruments has introduced a low-cost PXI Express chassis and controller options for automated test and measurement applications

They include the NI PXIe-8102/01 embedded controllers and the GBP1,199 (EUR1,399) NI PXIe-1073 chassis.

The chassis and controllers maintain transfer rates of up to 250Mb/s across the PXI Express data bus.

The NI PXIe-1073 chassis, which features an integrated remote controller, lowers the system entry point to PXI Express by 42 per cent compared to previous PXI Express systems with similar capabilities.

The chassis features five PXI Express hybrid slots that accept both PXI and PXI Express modules, such as the National Instruments X Series PXI Express data acquisition modules.

The chassis provides 250Mb/s of total system bandwidth and an integrated MXI Express controller with PCI Express host controller card and cable.

It also features built-in timing and synchronisation connections integrated into its backplane.

Adding to its flexibility, the chassis is compatible with NI Labview graphical system design software, NI Teststand test management software and other software systems that optimise automated test, measurement and control applications.

The NI PXIe-8102/01 embedded controllers can address the need for a high-value PXI Express solution that couples the PC and chassis in a self-contained system.

The NI PXIe-8102 features a dual-core 1.9 GHz Intel Celeron T3100 processor and the NI PXIe-8101 includes a single-core 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron 575 processor.

Integrating these controllers into a PXI Express chassis, such as the NI PXIe-1062Q or PXIe-1082, provides engineers with a compact platform that delivers up to 1Gb/s of total system bandwidth and up to 250Gb/s of single-slot bandwidth.

The controllers are suited to value-based test, measurement and control applications.
