The latest version of NavisWorks introduces a reader for Intergraph Plant Design System that supplements the.dgn reader and supports PDS object information as well as offering more accurate object finding for clash detection Version 2.3 also improves support for AutoCAD block attributes plus MultiSteel and Cadpipe object information, which means that the object properties of these applications are available, through the easy to use interface of NavisWorks, to those who do not posses the original software
Existing customers who hold a valid NavisWorks Bond will be able to download their upgrade to NavisWorks 2.3 from the exclusive website area launched to coincide with this release.
"NavisWorks 2.3 celebrates our continued improvements in interoperability and the use of the compressed NavisWorks file format for secure, collaborative design review", says Peter Thompson, Managing Director of NavisWorks.
"Initially NavisWorks satisfied CAD designers need to walkthrough and explore their large 3D creations on route from inspiration to execution", continues Thompson, "but our early customers wanted more than real time navigation and we thank them for inspiring us to develop NavisWorks to be the comprehensive interactive review environment that enables anyone, anywhere, to easily visualise, measure, mark up and co-ordinate 3D design".
Today a path to NavisWorks is available from the most popular AEC and MCAD applications, which means that the 3D model, both geometry and object information, can be united to make it accessible and affordable.
NavisWorks files can be distributed and reviewed using a standard specification PC without the need for the original CAD software.
NavisWorks 2.3 also offers an improved.dgn reader that supports exports from Xsteel plus readers for native files from AutoCAD R14 through 2002, Architectural Desktop 3.3, MicroStation SE, MicroStation /J, PDS, Mechanical Desktop 6 and SolidWorks 2001Plus.
The exporters for Viz 3 and 4 have been enhanced, and ArchiCAD 7 users can save as.nwd.
Users of MicroStation v8, Revit 4 and AllPlan can all export to.dwg and the IGES and improved Step readers enable users of Pro Engineer, Autodesk Inventor 5 and SolidEdge to benefit.
NavisWorks 2.3 introduces localisation for Russia in addition to Germany, France and Japan.
Three years of growth means that there are now NavisWorks users in North America, Africa, Asia, Australasia and Europe.
This release has been co-ordinated with the launch of an exclusive NavisWorks Bond holder area on the company's website to offer information and collect feedback from more users.
Emphasising how important the input of NavisWorks users will continue to be, Peter Thompson concluded: "The Bond holder web pages that we are launching to coincide with this release will provide resources for our users and allow us to extend our reach and increase the value of our relationship with our customers that has so enormously benefited NavisWorks thus far".
The NavisWorks Bond provides users with guaranteed peace of mind, delivering technical support and product upgrades.
The Bond holder website will offer exclusive news and NavisWorks product development programmes in addition to downloads, offers and user forums.
