Upgrade for real-time review application
The NavisWorks JetStream fourth-generation real-time review application is now shipping and the company reckons navigation, collaboration and co-ordination have never been better.
Software works with latest Inventor
Autodesk has certified that NavisWorks JetStream is compatible with the forthcoming Inventor 10 product.
Linde provides design and engineering services for the construction of large chemical process plant installations and is recognised as one of the leading companies operating in this field.
This agreement gives Linde the capability to use NavisWorks in any of its projects both within the design office and also during construction on site and will raise awareness of NavisWorks among 3D users globally.
Linde has been at the forefront of using CAD, recognising the benefits that 3D design offers their business and with a clear set of needs for a design review solution.
With its ease of use for occasional non-CAD users to operate as well as CAD experts, NavisWorks was identified by Linde as a solution that could extend the benefit offered by the 3D model beyond the design office to open up access to project data for a wider range of people including clients, management, and sales and marketing professionals.
Linde also had some very particular requirements that only NavisWorks satisfied.

NavisWorks has included extensive laser scan file format support in its latest offering, JetStream.
Software provides interactive review environment
The latest version of NavisWorks introduces a reader for Intergraph Plant Design System that supplements the.dgn reader and supports PDS object information.
Visualisation package upgrades compatibility
The latest NavisWorks 2 point release delivers support for SolidWorks 2003, Cadpipe 7 and CAD-Duct plus great improvements in its DGN reader.
To enable different suppliers and subcontractors data to be combined and co-ordinated, support for multiple file formats was essential.
Linde wanted very fast clash checking that enables different objects or files to be checked for interferences thereby ensuring quick and accurate co-ordination of design data and delivering considerable cost savings.
A flexible and scaleable product architecture was wanted with a modular feature set to meet the needs of different skill levels amongst users.
Finally, an affordable price was essential to Linde to enable them to invest in the large number of licences required for the identified benefits of greater efficiency and increased productivity.
Satisfying these requirements made NavisWorks JetStream the only choice for Linde.
Peter Thompson, NavisWorks Managing Director, was very pleased to confirm the final agreement, saying: "We are delighted to have such an endorsement from Linde as a leader in its field".
"Our two companies have worked so well together to ensure not only that our technology fitted their needs, but that we also understand each other's business and can now operate in a real and ongoing partnership".
NavisWorks software was particularly attractive to Linde because of its compatibility with the Intergraph PDS system as Linde are the largest user of PDS in Germany and thus sought a design review solution that required no changes in software use or work processes and, in fact, has already succeeded in improving workflow.
Linde KCA in Dresden first purchased NavisWorks in 2003 primarily to be able to combine its DGN files, which are the basis of PDS, with other formats such as DWG which have to be integrated within some projects.
It soon became apparent that the easy to use NavisWorks with its rich feature set offered Linde an alternative solution to Intergraph's Design Review and Smart Plant Review products which had previously been their main tools for reviewing projects during the design phase.
Ongoing evaluation continued until the release of NavisWorks JetStream at the end of 2004 paving the way for this agreement.
Herr Schwab, Linde's General Manager for Plant Design, and one of the most experienced and respected figures in the process plant engineering industry, said: "One of Linde's strongest requirements is the continuous improvement of productivity and engineering quality by using state-of-the-art software tools".
"In order to obtain optimal instruments that meet our demands we feel it is essential to contribute our experience and vision into the development of software".
"The new JetStream viewing and clash detective software from NavisWorks reflects this input and is one of the most sophisticated and valuable design review applications".
"NavisWorks JetStream is able to support us in controlling the engineering quality of large global multidiscipline petrochemical plants in the most economical manner [often designed with different CAD systems at different locations] simply by using the software out of the box".
"The remarkable ease of use of the NavisWorks JetStream design review software, combined with new walk through and online clash and accessibility checking features no longer requires CAD experts for presenting the plant design".
"This advantage is even more powerful since NavisWorks JetStream can review all the most important plant design systems together by combining different file formats or data bases".
"From now on every Linde project team member - from the project manager to the customer including the different discipline engineers, subcontractors, the vendor and the site worker - will be able to review the virtual plant model at any time since the software is able to run on simple office PCs or notebooks".
"NavisWorks JetStream is now a strategic tool in Linde's plant design engineering processes".
