Modular inverter needn't be supplied with bells on

Here's an idea: a new drive designed so that 'bespoke' versions can be supplied in volume, for when you don't require the full range of bells, whistles, and knobs that can be supplied

Not everyone specifying a frequency inverter requires the full range of bells, whistles, and knobs that can be supplied.

Equally, there is often the need for an inverter that offers only one complex function from a relatively simple drive chassis.

Nord Gear's new SK 700E inverter offers these options and many more thanks to its modular construction.

The modularity of the drive is such that 'bespoke' versions can be supplied in volume.

The SK 700E offers the ability to add and even remove functions and capabilities as required.

This capability includes the option to add snap on modules to the front of the inverter, including various equipment interfaces, custom interfaces and Profibus and CANbus access modules.

These modules can be easily attached and detached by hand.

However, safety is ensured as the inverter is designed to be panel mounted, preventing operator interference.

The SK 700E uses a sensorless vector current control system, which ensures an optimized voltage to frequency relationship, based on the simulated operation of an asynchronous three-phase motor.

Thus, high starting torques, of up to 400%, and maximum overload torques are available to the drive while speed remains constant.

With the huge variety of potential setting options, the SK 700E is capable of controlling any three-phase motor on the market and is available with outputs between 1.5kW and 7.5kW.

Furthermore, larger sizes are due to be released in 2002.

The Inverter is also fitted with an analogue PI/PID controller, which is ideal for dosing in fan and pump applications.

Options include encoder feedback for high precision speed control and an integrated positioning control for exact positioning of the drive.

The SK 700E inverter can operate in ambient temperatures of up to 50C and is easy to install and start up with or without Nord's free dedicated 'Nordcon' software.

However, Nordcon does allow the user to save a permanent record of all settings for as many different inverters as required.

These are safely stored and not lost in the event of a complete inverter failure.

Operating information is clearly displayed using a multilingual text display.
