NEE celebrates 25 years in motion control

North East Electronics is celebrating 25 years in Motion and Machine control.

The 35-employee company designs, makes and supplies motion control hardware and software.

NEE's main product, the AMC can be supplied as self contained units to house control, drive amplifiers and power supplies or as a control only bookcase mounting unit or as an individual board set.

The AMC controllers are set up to match the machine and are known to increase productivity, in one case up to 40%.

Utilising both standard and some special features the AMC control is programmed with the machine and motion parameters at commissioning to operate at optimum machine performance from CAD or CAM-supplied programs.

The operator can input the tool offsets etc.

The control can slow down both feed and spindle speed (analogue or laser pulsed outputs) at corners.

In addition, a special blend feature means the control can perform at optimum speeds to suit the machine and work.

The AMC uses RISC processors and are available for up to six axes of either stepper or servo-motors.

The AMC family of controls incorporate a seven term servo loop for smooth and precise motion.

Good motion control matched to machine performance provides smooth motion control to deliver a good surface finish, accurate parts, plus long tool and machine life.

The AMC control range can take language input in the form of ISO G and M codes, HPGL 2D and 3D (Hewlett Packard Graphics Language, the standard CAD output used to drive plotters) or ESSI language this is used on profile cutting machines and used in Nesting software packages.

NEE also produce their own job programming software GPS, graphical programming software also compatible with the AMC controllers.

Many options and features are available for laser, water jet cutting and knife cutting machines with an automatic tangential rotating axis.

AMC now has as an alternative to standard keyboards with a PC front-end virtual panel software this is a fully configurable machine/control interface It allows the machine interface to be created to suit individual applications and the level of operators.

With the advent of the touch-screen PC and industrialised PC's becoming more common on the shop-floor WinAMC(r) is the ideal way to monitor and control machines and processes.
