Nematron Corporation, a leading producer of PC-based industrial control solutions, has announced that it has completed the acquisition of A-OK Controls Engineering, Inc.

The acquisition adds approximately 100 application engineers with automotive industry experience to Nematron's workforce.

A-OK Controls will continue to operate as an independent business unit providing integration services for Nematron products as well as those of other automation vendors.

A-OK Controls President Ronald Causley will continue in his current role.

A-OK Controls' headquarters in Michigan will also become the site for Nematron's Midwest Regional Automation Centre.

This will provide a centre-of-expertise for the integration of Nematron's open architecture PC-based control products with third-party systems and devices.

The Automation Centre has training facilities to accommodate additional classes offered by Nematron and A-OK Controls.

Planning is underway for additional Nematron Automation Centres in strategic locations around North America and Europe.

"The acquisition of A-OK Controls is a critical step in Nematron's growth strategy," said Matt Galvez, Nematron's President.

"We now have a large application engineering group with extensive system integration and project management experience on automotive programs.

This will enable Nematron to provide more value to our customers on major programs by offering extensive support and integration services throughout the lifetime of an installation." The transaction is expected to have a positive impact on earnings and expand the sales channel for Nematron's bundled PC-based control solutions.

A-OK Controls' revenues for 1999 exceeded $10 million.
