The slim profile F1, designed primarily to meet the needs of the HMI market, is the first in a new range of PC platforms from Nematron.

The panel PC format F1 features low power Celeron M and Pentium M technology with a 15in display module.

Formula's slim profile veils the multiple variants and enormous drive capacity brought about through the innovative drive carrier design.

When it comes to options Formula's drive carrier offers the user maximum flexibility - a robust 2.5in hard drive with a minimum of 40Gbyte, a floppy drive, a slimline CDRW/DVD, plus a second 2.5in hard drive can be supported simultaneously.

Intel's low power/low heat CPUs provide startling performance along with crisp 24 bit colour images from the Extreme Graphics 2 controller.

Formula is equipped with ample communication capabilities; three 10/100/1000Mbit/s Ethernet controllers, two USB 2.0 ports and a serial and parallel port are provided as standard.

"This is the product our customers have been waiting for", says Rene Lammers, Nematron's Hardware Product Marketing Manager.

"The product marks a return to in-house design and carries all the Nematron quality hallmarks for which we are famed, superb heavy gauge chassis design, practical serviceability features and designed-in longevity, yet at a very competitive price level".

Soon to join the F1 will be the F3 which adds PCI expansion capabilities.

In addition the range will offer multiple display modules to allow for 15, 17 and 19in LCDs.

If market demands emerge Formula's design allows for larger display modules in the future.

In future releases the Formula series will also support keypad and function key configurations in addition to the touch only format.

Customers currently using the company's Delta Series iPCs can easily migrate to the new product as Delta and Formula share the same mounting aperture dimensions.

Nematron's CEO, David Hicks commented: "The launch of Formula is particularly pleasing".

"As well as bringing the F1 to market in record time using simultaneous engineering techniques, Formula is the product of a new European/US design team put into place as a result of the company's restructuring".

"Formula confirms the company's new, agile operating structure is able to deliver interesting, innovative and cost effective solutions to the market in an efficient and timely manner".
