Fanless embedded PCs suit varied applications

The EP1016 offers a 10.4in, 256k colour SVGA resistive touch screen display with 800 x 600 resolution under an IP65 aluminium front bezel.

The EP1000 series of fanless processing platforms is designed to meet varied computing tasks in the sub 15in embedded panel sector.

It provides a suitable platform for running Industrial Automation software under Windows CE or XPe or for factory floor IT thin client applications running in conjunction with Windows Server 2003 terminal services.

For Windows CE applications pre-installed software configurations cater for Windows CE versions 5.0 and 6.0.

For server-centric computing models where Windows Server 2003 terminal services are used the device includes thin client image support for a Windows CE.NET 5.0 thin client OS image, a thin client shell, FTP and VNC servers and MS-IE, RDP and ICA thin client protocols.

The XPe thin client support includes a Windows XPE thin client OS image and the MS-IE, RDP and ICA thin client protocols; making the device ideal for deployment in shop floor based ERP client applications.

Factory installed thin client software includes a remote network management utility for client management.

For mission critical applications demanding functions such as server redundancy management, the EP1000 can also be supplied ACP ThinManager ready.

The EP1016 is the first release in the range and offers a 10.4in, 256k colour SVGA resistive touch screen display with 800 x 600 resolution under an IP65 aluminium front bezel.

The standard 500MHz AMD Geode processor is supported by 128Mbyte of DDR dynamic RAM and features up to 4Gbyte of rugged IDE Industrial Flash memory storage as standard.

Support is also available for onboard and removable Compact Flash Type II.

The EP1016 supports extensive communication capability including two USB ports, two LAN ports, two PS/2 ports, one RS232 port and audio in/out and VGA ports.

The power supply connector and all I/O connectors are conveniently mounted on a recessed I/O plate on the lower side of the chassis with space for additional communication ports.

The mother board also supports a 1 to 255 second programmable watchdog timer and 8bit digital I/O.

Other options include a stainless steel bezel.

Although designed for the embedded market the unit can also configured for duty as a small panel PC with a factory fitted 2.5in hard drive and a complete Windows XP Professional installation.
