Bethell buys BY pumps from Netzsch

A Netzsch Pumps product story

Netzsch Pumps has supplied two BY progressing cavity pumps with dry run and over pressure protection to Bethell Construction for a waste water treatment plant in the north of England.

The two variable speed BY pumps are being used to continuously feed screened sewage sludge to the plant's existing sludge digesters.

The specification called for both pumps to operate on a duty/standby basis and be capable of wide ranging flow rates.

The pumps also had to meet additional criteria, including low-sliding velocity between the stator and rotor, minimum component wear and delivery of the wide range of flow against a relatively high static head.

Both pumps were also supplied with 22kW motors to meet the limitations of the power supply at the plant.

Commenting on the installation, Mark Charnock of Bethell Constructions says: "We found that the highly efficient Netzsch pumps were the only ones available that best suited our specification.

They were also more cost effective than pumps from other suppliers".

All Netzsch BY pumps feature a modular, block construction that makes them easily adaptable to the varied flowrates and pressures required for a wide range of waste applications.

The pumps are also fitted with a close-coupled drive to eliminate the need for a bearing housing.

This in turn reduces the overall pump length making them ideal for applications where space is at a premium.

Commenting for Netzsch Pumps, managing director Guy Glennon says the BY pump is ideal for this application as it offers long life and operational reliability; low investment and ownership costs; and requires minimum maintenance.
