Lifting equipment suits all requirements

A JD Neuhaus product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 20, 2005

The Kito range of high duty electric hoists enables JD Neuhaus to offer customers a much wider choice of lifting equipment to suit all requirements.

JD Neuhaus has been appointed as the UK distributor for the Kito range of electric and manual chain hoists.

The JDN company is an established manufacturer of pneumatic/hydraulically powered equipment for use in Ex rated environments.

The Kito range of high duty electric hoists, and their powerful manual chain hoists up to 20t capacity, will enable the company to offer customers a much wider choice of lifting equipment to suit all requirements.

They are particularly suited to higher duty applications, and in the case of the manual hoists offshore and mining applications.

The extensive Kito range offered by JDN includes the electric ER and EDIII Series, the manual L5 and LX Series, as well as the Kito M3CB heavy-duty specification manual chain hoist designed for operation in mining, offshore or other robust environments.

This latter product was originally developed for the mining industry in South Africa.

It has special features specifically designed to withstand the rigours of functioning in harsh operating conditions, making the products durable, tough and safe.

These include: sealed bearings to ensure smooth operation in dusty conditions; domed capping nuts on covers to prevent impact damage to side plate studs, which could lead to expensive repair; strengthened hook latches to accommodate side loads produced in slant lifting; and double pawl and spring mechanisms to ensure reliable braking performance in any pulling position, thanks to the secure engagement of both pawls with the ratchet disc.

Electric drive chain hoists for industrial, workstation and special applications are represented in the Kito range by the ER and EDIII Series.

The ER Series combine a low headroom with fan-cooled motors, a nickel plated load chain for enhanced resistance to wear and corrosion, together with an IP55 rated single-piece die-cast body.

The ER also features a high quality friction clutch with excellent abrasion resistance and stability, all designed to withstand rugged environments.

Models range from 125kg to 20t lifting capacity with low, medium, moderate, standard or high lifting speeds (single or dual) depending on the application.

The Kito EDIII Series of single-phase (230V AC, 50Hz) electric chain hoists offer single or dual high speed lifting.

Although designed as compact and light units (the 100kg capacity model weighs just 11.5kg), the EDIII Series has load capacities ranging from 60 up to 480kg, and all models feature a high strength, wear and rust resistant nickel plated load chain, as well as an innovative friction clutch brake.

Safety, ease of operation and ruggedness are the top priorities for Kito L5 lever hoist blocks.

Though compact and light, the L5 is tough enough for heavy-duty applications, such as transportation, general construction including bridgework, civil engineering, shipbuilding and forestry.

Seven models complete the L5 portfolio, ranging from 800 to 9000kg lifting capacity.

Compared with previous models the L5 is smaller in length, height and headroom, resulting in savings in weight.

Completing the Kito range offered by JDN are the two LX lever block models, which are ultracompact, light and portable for ease of use in elevated work positions.

The LX models feature exceptionally low hand-pull force for reliable lifting and pulling tasks, with lifting capacities up to 500kg.
