Air operated hoist works single handed

A JD Neuhaus product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 23, 2006

The Mini Manipulator offers single handed operation providing safe, precise and convenient control of work handling operations.

The latest work handling unit from JD Neuhaus is the Mini Manipulator, a versatile, easy to use and inexpensive addition to the portfolio of air operated equipment.

With a lift/lower control mechanism incorporated with the lifting hook, the device offers single handed operation providing safe, precise and convenient control of work handling operations.

Two models are available, with load capacities of 125 and 250kg, respectively, both offering lift heights of 3, 5 or 8m.

They are ideally suited to load transfers between pallet, workbench or conveyor, with an optional trolley overhead rail mounting for easy movements between workstations or other locations.

Typical applications include the aircraft and automotive industry for lifting small engines or components for larger engine assemblies.

Liquid container handling in chemical plants can also be simplified as well as the movement of chucks, tooling and workpieces in workshops.

This includes a wide range of maintenance operations throughout industry during the refurbish or repair of machinery.

The devices use the robust JDN mini hoist mechanisms which have an established reputation for both performance and reliability.

These have been combined with a triple feed coiled pneumatic hose attached to the combined controller/load hook.

This latter item can be supplied for left or right handed operation and incorporates thumb operated lift and lower controls as well as an emergency stop button.

This arrangement eliminates trailing air-power supply or pendent control leads, which could otherwise interfere with, or get trapped during load movements.

The close physical association with the load hook ensures that operators always have a good view of the lift/lower operations, which can be subject to precise, controlled movements for maximum safety and precision positioning.

The Mini Manipulator is also ATEX certified and marked for use in hazardous areas, as well as being insensitive to both dust and humidity and suitable for operation within a temperature range of -20 to +50C.
